2008 PRIDE OF WINTER HAVEN BAND CAMP

WHHS BAND RECEIVES EIGHTH
CONSECUTIVE STATE CONCERT MPA SUPERIOR
This past Tuesday, April 15, the WHHS Symphonic Band traveled to
Vero Beach High School to participate in the annual Florida Band
Masters Association State Concert MPA. There, the members had their
best performance of the year for their MPA Music. There was a
wonderful feeling of musicality and energy all throughout the
performance and as they walked off stage. This performance was well
received by the audience and judges as well, earning the band straight
superiors. This of course awarded the band with the prestigious "Otto
J. Kraushaar" Award, which is given to bands who earn year long
straight superiors. This marks the band with their eighth consecutive
state level superior and their sixth "Kraushaar". Congratulations WHHS
Band for representing the school and community so well.
DEVILETTES EARN STATE SUPERIOR
April 9th, the WHHS Devilettes returned to the state level FBA
Solo and Ensemble. In preparation, the team worked extremely hard
perfecting their kick routine to MC Hammer's Early '90s hit Can't
Touch This. While their performance time was extremely early in
the morning, they performed with a high level of precision and energy.
Also, two soloists, Alley Cioffi and Carlie Stine, each earned a
superior on their solos. This was a wonderful day for the team and we
are very proud of their work.
CONGRATULATIONS TO STATE SOLO AND ENSEMBLE PARTICIPANTS
April 9th, member of the WHHS Band and Devilettes traveled to West
Port High School to participate in the annual Florida Band Masters
State Solo and Ensemble MPA. Students worked diligently towards this
event and all performed extremely well. Of these performances, eight
were awarded superior and include:
Ben Bonine- Euphonium Solo
Alley Cioffi- Dance Solo
Rachel Harris- Oboe Solo
Carlie Stine- Dance Solo
Brittany Ware- Alto Saxophone Solo
Brooke Yates- Flute Solo
Devilettes
Percussion Ensemble.
PIZZA HUT NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cypress Gardens Blvd Pizza Hut is working to help raise funds for
the WHHS Band. Every Monday night, Pizza Hut will donate 20% of a
customers bill to the Band Program. In order for this to happen, all
you have to do is tell the cashier that you would like your ticket to
go towards the Winter Haven Band Program. We are gracious for Cypress
Gardens Blvd. Pizza Hut to work this deal for us and would ask that
you join the WHHS Band every Monday night for Pizza Night.
